Of Sequined Capes, Tchaikovsky and Role Playing

By Christine Martens

Sometimes some events just don’t get the publicity they should receive. Not everyone has the ability to get out the news like the Woodson Art Museum. To help remedy this situation, here are a few things you may want to consider for this weekend:

Grab your sequin jumpsuit, cape and sideburns for the Annual Elvis Birthday Bash at Dales Weston Lanes. There are two performances featuring four Elvis impersonators (2pm and 8pm). Prices are $12 for matinee and $15 for evening performance. (January 13)www.elvisbash.com/elvisbash/

If sequins and capes are just not in your wardrobe then head on over to the Grand for a bit of tea and a spectacular performance of Tchaikovsky by the Hamburg State Symphony. Call ahead and reserve your space for a pre-show tea complete with finger foods and delectable desserts. (January 13)

Take some time to learn how take some time to take care of yourself! Visit the Mind Body and Spirit Expo at the Cedar Creek Mall from 10am-4pm. It’s even free!

If you enjoy gaming then this is the place to be! Evercon 2007 at D.C. Junior Everest High School (8am-10pm). Admission is $5.00. It will feature all types of gaming including role playing, video gaming, dance dance revolution, tournaments, board games, cosplay/masquerade and a gamers store. For more information call 359-0511 or www.dcegamingclub.co.nr/.

Of course don’t miss the exhibit “From Seas to Shining Sea” at the Woodson Art Museum!
