Wausau Area Events Loses Another

Amy Altenburg stepped down what seems like a year ago, and one of her replacements stepped down this week. 2 in a year. My question is, how does this happen? What causes two supremely qualified, and quite successful women to step down from what is the greatest job this city has to offer? Is it not the greatest job?

  1. I had a conversation with someone last week about this. From my understanding, it is a politically-charged position. Also, I genuinely think Amy wanted to spend time with her children. And as much fun as the events are, could you imagine the work that goes into them and not really being able to be a participant?

On a somewhat related note, the Family Fun Series that Wausau Area Events has a flaw I would like to point out. The events are scheduled from 11:00-1:00 in the middle of the week– I am wondering how many working families are able to attend. Even if they were scheduled at 3:00 or 4:00, maybe folks would be able to take an hour or so off of work to go. Just a thought.

  2. I may have missed this in other news sources, but who stepped down and is there a public reason why?

It seems that the WAE jobs are some of the most public in the City. Perhaps these positions have an equally high amount of stress, because they are so public?

  3. I agree with the timing issue; have events and the market in the early evening. We don’t have another evening market, and then I think a wider selection of people could enjoy it.

  4. Have not seen a lot of traffic here. What is shaking wausaublog?
